5 College Hacks To Save You Money

5 College Hacks To Save You Money

  1. Go to every event (that you can) on campus

    • These events tend to have free swag such as t shirts, blankets, etc. There is also food at most of these events, so put the ramen down and check these out. I actually fed myself dinner twice a week by attending RA events around campus

    • If you don’t know what events are happening talk to your RA, check out a bulletin board, or take a look at your student email. I can guarantee that one of those three knows where you can find an event.

  2. Make yourself a To Go plate from your dining hall. Before the days of KSU instituted green to go Tupperware, I had a tendency of taking a ziplock bag or three into the dining to sneak out a slice of pizza or sandwiches from the dining hall for later

    • Before doing this, check out your dining halls rules on taking food out of the cafeteria.

  3. Check out your library for class textbooks

    • Most libraries have a copy or two of required textbooks that are available to check out

    • If you are going to do this, try and get your required textbook list early to make sure you can secure the bag before someone else does.

    • Don’t forget to renew the book as necessary to avoid fines.

4. Shop at your local thrift store.

  • Don’t waste money on brand new clothes because let’s be honest, your going to be wearing leggings and gym shorts most of the time anyway.

  • Thrift stores have really good college student discounts. Which leads me to #5

5. Don’t be afraid to ask for that Student Discount

  • Most stores, museums, and coffee shops will give you a discount for being a student if you show them your student ID.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask if they have a student discount. A lot of places don’t advertise their discounts, and the widest they can say is no.

  • Don’t forget, you van get Hulu for free with Spotify Premium membership which is only $5/month for college students
