Boundary Setting After the Election

Now, I know we have all seen the “If you unfriend me because of my political views, then I guess we were ever friends” or “We should be able to have different political views and still be friends.” This is my response to that as posted on my personal Facebook page as The Blooming Babe.

🛑STOP🛑

Stop trying to gaslight your former friends for no longer wanting to be your friend because of your political affiliation. This whole “well I guess you were never really my friend” rhetoric is inane.

They were your friend. When they saw that your morals and values no longer aligned with their morals and values, they ended the friendship.

This is OKAY. It’s a part of setting ✨healthy boundaries✨

So, if someone no longer wants to be your friend after this election, then that’s their business. You can’t force someone to interact with you. Trying to guilt someone into being your friend is not the foundation you want for your friendship. Nor is it the foundation of a healthy relationship.

Lastly, honoring someone’s boundaries, and no longer interacting with them in the capacity that they choose is nothing if not respectful.

Thank you,

🌸 The Blooming Babe 🌸
