How to Overcome Self Doubt
So, let’s have the hard conversation. A lot of self sabotage (which we talked about last week) can begin to be fixed understanding the “why?” behind the self sabotage. The sad part is that one of the main causes of the “Why?” is Self Doubt. We don’t feel worthy of achieving our goals. We don’t believe in our ability to get our goals done. This is really sad, but it’s something we can work on with these thirteen steps.
BIG STEP ONE: REFLECTION AND RENEWAL
Baby Step One: Gather your positive experiences. This will remind you of why you are doing what
you are doing.
Baby Step Two: Practice self-compassion. You are not perfect, so do not pressure yourself into trying
to be perfect.
Baby Step Three: Separate fact from feeling. You are doing better than you think. Take a look at how
far you've come
Baby Step Four: Stop comparing your accomplishments to your friends and contemporaries'
accomplishments. Every flower blooms in its own time.
Baby Step Five: Establish a new response to failure and mistake making. Instead of beating yourself
up, take the time to learn from what you've been through and celebrate the failures as another
chance for success.
BIG STEP TWO: REFRAMING THE NARRATIVE
Baby Step Six: Make your goal bigger Than Your Fear. Remember that the end goal is going to be
worth the pain.
Baby Step Seven: Visualize success. Write out what your life will be like after you achieve your goal.
Feel what that life will be like.
BIG STEP THREE: REDIRECTING YOUR ENERGY
Baby Step Eight: Stop Asking For Validation. Only you give value to your goals and in turn to yourself.
If it's not worth it to you, then it won't be worth it to your friends, and family.
Baby Step Nine: Listen and/or read positive material on a daily basis. Bring that positive energy into
your life and your thoughts.
Baby Step Ten: Go to your mantras for support. Never forget that you are worthy. In fact, take five
minutes to write out why you are worthy of achieving your goal.
Baby Step Eleven: Don't Be Afraid to Seek Help. this could be finding an accountability buddy,
seeking help from a therapist, or just doing more research to get yourself back on track.
Baby Step Twelve: Realize you're not alone. We are struggle with self doubt, and now we know how
to overcome it :)
