Setback: noun [C] US/ˈsetˌbæk/; something that causes delay or stops progress.

Shit happens. That shit is setbacks. Setbacks suck. However, setbacks are more like the chain on your bike coming off and less like a train derailing. The world is not going to end when a setback occurs. So what should we do when we hit a setback?

Well first we are going to acknowledge that these things happen. We grow through what we grow through. Setbacks are part of the growth process and will lead to something even bigger and better.

Next, we aren’t going to linger on it too long. You’ll dig yourself into a deeper mental hole rather than figure out ways of getting out of said hole.

Okay. Now it’s time to reevaluate. This is when you go back to your SMART goal and see what adjustments need to be made in order for you to continue to achieve this goal. Ask yourselves

  • Where am I?

  • Where do I want to be?

  • When do I want to be there?

Now that you’ve gone through these step it’s time to take action and move forward. You got this!

And they your go! You are on your way to overcoming your setback! If you have any questions about developing a growth mindset, feel free to reach out and comment below! If you like what you read, sign up for my newsletter so you are first to know when self-care blogs are posted!
