The Art of Self Love

Self Love is regard for one's own well-being and happiness. Self love takes more than a self care day and a few affirmations. In fact, it has five parts:

  • Self Reflection

  • Self Healing

  • Self Discovery

  • Self Confidence

  • Self Growth

Self Reflection is meditation or serious thought about one's character, actions, and motives. The purpose of self reflection is to take a look at your actions, emotions, and the way you think so you can determine how to heal and find better ways of moving forward in your life.

Goals that you want to get out of self reflection include:

  • To change how you understand and view yourself

  • To create healthier feelings and reactions to certain situations

  • To honor your strengths and weaknesses

  • To reflect on how you have used your strengths how you will continue to use them

  • To create ways to improve your weaknesses

  • To acknowledge negative thought patterns and transform them

  • To better understand what you want to manifest  more of in your life

A great way to get started on this journey is to journal. Here are a few journal prompts to get you started.

  • How do I think people perceive me?

  • How do I perceive myself?

  • When I am upset I like to _______________?

  • When I am happy I like to_______________?

  • When is the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone? What was that experience like?

Self Healing is a process of recovery and regeneration guided often only by instinct. This is a process started and controlled by the person wanting to be healed.

The purpose of Self Healing is to work through trauma, restore peace in your life, and create coping skills.

Journal prompts for this include:

  • I would love to get some support with____________.

  •  I feel amazing about myself when I_____________.

  • If I could speak to my younger self I would tell them____________.

  • Name one time you wish someone had stood up for you and what you wish they had done.

  • What is one boundary you wish you had put up sooner? How amazing does it feel now that you have that boundary up?

Self Discovery is the process of acquiring insight into one's own character.

The purpose of Self Discovery is to take a deep dive into the understanding of oneself. It allows you to gain confidence, build on your strengths and weaknesses, and find what makes you happier.

Journal prompts to get your Self Discovery journey started are:

  • When was one situation where I reacted inappropriately? How would you react differently now?

  • When was a time you were proud of yourself when you reacted appropriately to a situation?

  • What was your biggest accomplishment so far in life?

  • What was your biggest challenge so far in life?

  • What makes you happy?

Self Confidence is a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgment.

Building Self Confidence is not easy, but when you do, you walk through the world with your head held high.

One of the best ways to build self confidence is through affirmations. Here are my favorite affirmations

  • I am becoming a better version of myself one day at a time.

  • I am aware of my gift to the world and share it freely.

  • Others value my skills and knowledge.

  • I can achieve anything I set my mind to

  • Nothing is more potent than my belief in me.

Self Growth also known as Personal growth is the process by which a person recognizes themselves and continually develops themselves to reach their full potential.

Self growth is important because it increases our quality of life. The better we become, the more we can begin to accomplish our dreams and goals.

Some great Self Growth activities include

  • Picking up a new hobby

  • Manifesting

  • Setting SMART Goals

  • Learn new skills

  • Read Self Improvement books
