How To Stay Positive In The Face Of Uncertainty

These times can be very scary. We are literally not in control of much happening around us. This can cause lots of anxiety and depression. When you start to feel overwhelmed, keep these in mind.

  1. Pray and Meditate

    • This is the best time to lean in and pray if you are religious and to manifest positive vibes into your life through meditation.

  2. Make a Plan

    • If you're like me then anxiety can set in quickly and the only way to calm myself down is to make a plan. Literally plan anything, a vacation, dinner for the week, updating your resume.

  3. Make the most out of the time you do have.

    • If you’re unemployed, this is a great time to reevaluate your career. If you’re stuck in the house, then this is a great time to make some updates. Take this time to improve your life.

  4. Practice gratitude

    • Although everything seems fuzzy, you can ground yourself and your thoughts by practicing gratitude. This will help retrain your thought process towards more positive thinking

  5. Remind yourself this uncertainty is temporary

    • This is a great way to not get stuck in your negative thoughts. It will also help you lead your thinking towards positive outcomes. Remember, this too shall pass.

  6. Accept the uncertainty, let go of expectations, and surrender

    • If you feel yourself getting worked up, this is when you simply have to let go. A lot of situations (like a global pandemic) are just out of our control. Trying to change that fact will only worsen your mental health.

  7. Surround yourself with positive people who care about your mental health.

    • Positive people, positive vibes. Enough said

  8. Seek professional help.

    • If you feel like you are struggling to process your emotions, this is the perfect time to seek help.

  9. Practice self care

    • Grab your favorite spa products and treat yourself. Being kind to yourself helps ease the stress of uncertainty. If you want to learn how to have your own self care day, you can read about it here.

  10. Ditch the “woe is me” act

    • Having a “woe is me” attitude benefits no one especially yourself. Be sad for a bit, but know when it's time to boss up. And if you can’t stop being sad, this is the time to seek help.
