Let’s Talk About Cuffing Season
Because Millenials are seemingly allergic to long term personal relationships, we have created what is called Cuffing Season. Now if you are new to this term or need a refresher, here is what Cuffing Season is according to Urban Dictionary:
During the Fall and Winter months people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves along with the rest of the world desiring to be "Cuffed" or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed.
So if you have decided to participate this year, keep on reading because I have a few pointers to make sure you get the most bang out of your buck:
Make sure your dating profile is 10/10
For profile pictures, you want a genuine smile and friendly demeanor
Your bio should be engaging. Make it mostly about you, but be sure to add a call to action at the end
Lastly, humor ranks as #1 as far as traits a person looks for, so be funny.
Don’t rush into a situationship
Make sure you thoroughly vet your roster before choosing your first round pick. This will also help avoid future run ins with red flags
Keep an overnight bag ready with all of the essentials
If you don’t, best case scenario is you have stinky breath for the day. Worst case scenario is you are responsible for another human being for the rest of your life.
Use this as a means of introspection
Use this time to seriously flush out your desires before fully investing emotionally. Do you really. know what you want from a relationship?
Lastly, know that you don’t have to participate.
Yes, it is going to suck during the holidays when nosey family members ask about your SO and it might be a little lonely on the other side of your bed, but that is no reason to enter into a relationship with an expiration date.
